Karachi crime drop camera installation

According to Ghulam Nabi Memon, Inspector General of Police for Sindh, the installation of surveillance cameras in Karachi has contributed to a 30 percent reduction in crime across the city.

Memon asserted that the deployment of CCTV and other monitoring technologies under the Sindh Safe Cities Authority (SSCA) has improved police responsiveness and deterrence of wrongdoing. The system enables quicker identification of suspects, improved vehicle tracking and enhanced analytics for street-crime investigations.

Although the data is preliminary and more time will be required to validate long-term trends, authorities view the drop as evidence that tech-led crime-prevention measures are beginning to yield results.
