A 2025 investigation by Amnesty International has revealed that a human-rights lawyer in Pakistan was targeted with a malicious link consistent with Predator spyware — a surveillance tool developed by the Israeli firm Intellexa.
According to the leaked internal documents of Intellexa reviewed by Amnesty’s Security Lab, the spyware employs “1-click” (and potentially “zero-click”) methods to infiltrate phones — enabling access to encrypted messages, call logs, real-time location, camera, microphone, and stored credentials.
The report claims this marks the first publicly documented case of Israeli spyware being deployed against a Pakistani civil-society member.
In response, Pakistani authorities have dismissed the findings. A senior intelligence official told media that the allegations are “completely baseless,” terming them part of a disinformation campaign. The government has denied any cooperation with Israeli surveillance entities.
