Transporters in Karachi have demanded the immediate withdrawal of the recent fuel price hike, warning they may decide their future course of action if the government does not reverse the increase. The demand was made during a meeting of the Karachi Transport Ittehad, chaired by its president Haji Muhammad Tawab Khan, where transport leaders expressed serious concern over rising operating costs.
According to the transport body, petroleum prices have increased by Rs78.78 per litre since January 1, 2026, including the latest Rs55 per litre hike, making it difficult for bus, minibus and coach operators to continue services without financial strain.
Transport representatives warned that continued fuel price increases could force operators to reconsider their operations or take further steps, stressing that the government must address the issue to prevent disruptions in public transport services.
