Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput has been appointed as the permanent Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court (SHC), marking a significant development in the province’s judicial leadership. His appointment follows the approval of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP), which endorsed his elevation after reviewing the seniority and service records of eligible judges.
Justice Rajput had been serving as the acting Chief Justice of SHC following the retirement of his predecessor. With the new appointment, he will now formally assume full administrative and judicial responsibilities of the high court.
According to officials, the JCP’s recommendation was unanimous, reflecting confidence in Justice Rajput’s experience, judicial conduct and administrative capabilities. The formal notification of his appointment is expected to be issued shortly, after which he will take oath as per constitutional procedure.
Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput has served on the bench of the Sindh High Court for several years and is regarded as one of its senior judges, known for his work in constitutional, civil, and criminal matters.
His elevation is expected to ensure continuity in the court’s administrative affairs and strengthen the judicial system in Sindh.
