Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, addressed participants of a Kashmir Solidarity Walk at D-Chowk in Islamabad on October 27, 2026, marking Jammu and Kashmir Black Day.
The event reaffirmed Pakistan’s stated political, diplomatic and moral support for the Kashmiri people and renewed calls for a peaceful resolution of the long-standing Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
Pakistan Reaffirms Support for Kashmiris
During the observance, Pakistan reiterated its position that the people of Jammu and Kashmir should be able to exercise their right to self-determination. The government has called on the international community, particularly the United Nations, to support efforts toward a just and lasting settlement.
In his message for Black Day, Dar said the dispute remained unresolved nearly eight decades after the events of October 27, 1947. He also highlighted Pakistan’s concerns about restrictions on fundamental freedoms and the human rights situation in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistan says it will continue raising the issue at international forums and advocating a peaceful resolution based on relevant UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
Why October 27 Is Observed as Kashmir Black Day
Kashmir Black Day is observed annually on October 27 to mark the arrival of Indian forces in Srinagar in 1947. Pakistan observes the day to highlight the unresolved dispute and express solidarity with Kashmiris.
The occasion is used to draw international attention to the political status of Jammu and Kashmir, human rights concerns and calls for self-determination. Pakistan maintains that a lasting settlement should reflect the wishes of the Kashmiri people and relevant UN resolutions. India, meanwhile, considers Jammu and Kashmir an integral part of the country.
