social media accounts spreading anti-Pakistan propaganda

According to recent disclosures by Pakistani security agencies, 33 social media accounts have been traced for running a coordinated propaganda campaign against Pakistan — with origins reportedly in Afghanistan, India and various Central Asian countries.

Of the accounts identified, 22 are allegedly operated by individuals tied to Fitna al-Khawarij — a label used by the state for extremists affiliated with Tehreek‑e‑Taliban Pakistan (TTP) — while the other 11 are linked to different anti-Pakistan operators.

The content produced by these accounts has been described as “false, hostile and inflammatory,” targeting Pakistan’s institutions and aiming to sow instability. Security officials say this represents a broader campaign of external influence aimed at undermining national cohesion and public confidence.

In response, the government has reiterated a commitment to crack down on online misinformation.
