Sources have indicated that Faisal Karim Kundi, current governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), is likely to be replaced. Five potential successors are reportedly under consideration — including three seasoned politicians and two retired senior military officers.
The political names reportedly in the mix include Amir Haider Khan Hoti, Pervaiz Khattak and Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao. The military–background contenders are former corps and Frontier Corps commanders: Khalid Rabbani and Ghayur Mahmood.
When asked about the reported change, Kundi stated he had no official information about any replacement, but added that he would accept whoever is chosen by his party.
Meanwhile, political analysts interpret the potential switch as part of broader federal-level calculations regarding governance and security in KP.
