Polio workers faced alleged misconduct from Dr Zarqa Pathan on Saturday in Hyderabad, where the doctor reportedly refused to immunize children at her hospital in Badin district.
Police detained Dr. Zarqa Pathan, who now faces charges under an FIR filed at Model Police Station in response to a state complaint.
A video of the incident also surfaced on social media, capturing the doctor fiercely arguing with polio workers. She even resisted the police officers who arrived to support the polio team. The doctor reportedly smacked one of the polio workers.
ASI Zulfiqar Ali Jatoi arrived at the hospital with other officers and attempted to calm the doctor down, but she refused to comply. The polio team claimed to the police that they attempted to administer polio drops to youngsters in the hospital, but the facility’s owner, Dr Pathan, protested. “Dr. Zarqa and her daughter-in-law assaulted us “, they alleged.
