The Karachi Bar Association (KBA) has declared a protest scheduled for 26 November 2025 against the ongoing stone-cutting of the Karoonjhar Hills in Tharparkar.
The rally will start at the City Court in Karachi at 11:30 a.m. and proceed to the Governor House, where a general body meeting will be held outside.
The KBA urges the Government of Sindh to withdraw its appeal in the Supreme Court and called for full protection of the ancient hills, citing both cultural heritage and environmental concerns.
The Karoonjhar Hills are described as unique for their granite formations, China clay deposits, water-resource importance and deep cultural significance for indigenous communities in the region.
Critics say illegal stone-cutting has occurred for years, allegedly with political backing, and the protest marks the legal profession’s increasing involvement in the conservation effort.
