Inter examinations to be held from this day in Karachi

Inter examinations

KARACHI: Prof Nasim Ahmed Memon, Chairman of the Board of Intermediate Education, Karachi (BIEK), said Wednesday that the examinations will begin on June 1.

In a statement, he stated that the intermediate examinations will begin on June 1 because they could not be held on May 28.

The BIEK chairman stated that it was not practicable to take matric and intermediate examinations in the same locations at the same time.

Memon stated that the board has requested authorization from the education minister to prolong the tests by four days. He stated that inter examinations will be held in the mornings in the centers, while matric exams were set for the evening.

Earlier, the Sindh government postponed intermediate examinations across the state for five days due to the prevailing heatwave.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah accepted the postponement, which was suggested by Provincial Minister for Universities and Boards Muhammad Ali Malkani.

Heatwave alarm

The current heat wave that has seized Karachi for the past two weeks has left residents scorching, and temperatures are anticipated to increase further over the next ten days.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has projected three heatwaves in various places during the next 25 days.

The presence of high pressure in the upper atmosphere will cause heatwave conditions in most regions of the nation, particularly Punjab and Sindh, beginning May 21 and intensifying from May 23 to 27, according to the statement.

Daytime temperatures are “likely to remain 4 to 6 degrees centigrade above normal” in Sindh and Punjab from May 21 to 23, and 6 to 8 degrees Celsius from May 23 to 27.
