An earthquake of low magnitude strikes Karachi

KARACHI: On Wednesday, a 3.1 Richter scale earthquake struck Karachi’s Malir area.

The National Seismic Monitoring Center (NSMC) verified that earthquakes were detected in Malir, Landhi, Quaidabad, Kathore, and Gadap Town.

The epicentre of the earthquake was New Malir Karachi, with a depth of 12km, according to the report.

Last October 16, a small earthquake with a Richter scale value of 3.1 rocked several areas of Karachi, Sindh’s capital.

According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre Islamabad, the earthquake had a depth of 15 kilometers and its epicentre was in Karachi’s Quaidabad district.

Tremors were reported in Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Cattle Colony, various districts of Malir District, Quaidabad, Shah Latif Town, Sherpao Colony, Landhi, Muzaffarabad Colony, Muslimabad Colony, Steel Town, and the surrounding regions.
