Karachi

KARACHI: At least 45 Karachi people have been slain so far in 2024 for resisting thefts, with February registering the highest number (20 fatalities).

Month-by-month data revealed that February had the most killings, with 20 civilians killed by thieves.

Robbers killed up to 13 persons in January, while dacoits have slain around 12 city citizens this month.

The most recent victim of armed robbers was a Karachi kid who attempted to thwart a robbery in North Karachi Sector 5 the day before.

Police said two suspected thieves attempted to loot a business in the North Karachi region, but were met with resistance from the proprietor. In response, the thieves opened fire, murdering Abdul Rahman, 25, on the spot before leaving the scene.

Days previously, two Karachi teens were killed by bandits while attempting to halt a heist.

According to the information, the thieves attempted to plunder two persons sitting on the roadside in Karachi’s Ahsanabad Sector 4 neighborhood on March 10.

The two persons attempted to stop the heist, and one of the dacoits opened fire, injuring both residents and fleeing the scene.
