ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reached a regional trade milestone by starting to carry fruit to Russia by land, Pakistani official media announced on Monday.
In this respect, 16 trucks from Pakistan’s National Logistics Corporation carrying oranges arrived the Russian cities of Derbent and Grozny after crossing over 6,000 kilometers.
“Russia applauded the NLC’s efforts to promote bilateral trade between both countries,” the state-run Radio Pakistan channel added.
Pakistan, which has been experiencing an economic recession for the past two years, is presently attempting to increase bilateral commerce with various nations.
The South Asian country is also attempting to attract foreign investment, mainly from the Middle East, to shore up its depleted reserves and fluctuating currency.
Prior to exporting fruit to Russia, the NLC offered logistical support for the export of bananas, beef, and fish to Central Asian countries and China.
