Yasir Shami

Yasir Shami, a well-known YouTuber, surrendered in court after being accused of disseminating viral videos portraying the late Dr. Aamir Liaquat Hussain.

Shami appeared before the Karachi City Courts, presided over by the Judicial Magistrate East, in the well publicized case.

Despite facing severe accusations, Shami was granted bail after submitting a Rs2.5 million surety bond. The court’s order also asked Shami to appear before the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and provide his statement on the matter.

This development follows a series of court summonses issued in response to Yasir Shami’s recurrent absence from hearings. Legal experts noted the YouTuber’s role in taking the case ahead.

The legal drama surrounding the viral recordings featuring Dr. Aamir Liaquat Hussain has included a number of people, including accuser Daniya Shah, who is now on bail. Shah’s counsel, Liaqat Gabol, emphasized Shami’s critical role in the case’s progression, citing delays caused by his conduct.

The forthcoming hearing on May 23 is likely to be significant, with talks centered on the confirmation of Yasir Shami’s bail. Furthermore, with another accused surrendering in the case, the legal landscape is expected to change, perhaps resulting in an amended charge sheet being presented during the future hearing.
