The Eid 2024 moon is expected to shine on Tuesday, April 9, bringing an end to the holy month of Ramadan.

The moon was born on Monday night at 11:21 p.m., and it will be 19 hours and 41 minutes old when it is seen in Islamabad.

Residents of the capital city may expect to see the Shawwal moon for a brief 10 minutes, between 7:02pm and 7:31pm.

Similarly, other sections of the country are preparing for the sighting. The moon will be visible from 7:01pm to 7:30pm in Azad Kashmir, and from 7:25pm to 7:54pm in Quetta.

Pasni will see the moon from 7:29 to 7:57 p.m., while Peshawar will see it from 7:08 to 7:37.

Residents in Lahore may expect the moon to emerge between 6:54pm and 7:21pm, while in Karachi, the viewing window is between 7:15pm and 7:42pm.

Furthermore, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is set to meet in Islamabad on Tuesday to officially sight the Shawwal moon.

The group, chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, would include representatives from many government agencies, including the science and technology ministry, the meteorological department, and the space and upper atmosphere research commission.

Contributions from zonal members from Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, and Peshawar are expected to enrich the meeting discussions.

In preparation for the Eid festivities, the government has declared three-day vacations from April 10 to April 12 for workplaces with a five-day workweek and a four-day break from April 10 to April 13 for those with a six-day workweek.
