SSGC disconnected 2,500 unauthorized connections in Karachi

KARACHI: The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) crew launched a successful operation against gas theft in Karachi, disconnecting 2,500 illegal connections from buildings near the Old Sabzi Mandi area.

Shahid Akram, SNGPL’s spokesperson, stated that another operation was conducted out on Prince Road in Bhara Kahu to find illicit pipelines.

According to Sui Southern Gas, gas was taken directly from the service line and distributed to 2,500 residences; nevertheless, the raiding team unplugged all 2,500 illicit connections.

According to the spokesman, gas thieves take four million cubic meters of gas each year, with a total worth of Rs 7.5 billion.

The company spokeswoman stated that fines will be applied based on the gas load and that the SSGC has strengthened its crackdown on gas thieves in its franchise territories of Sindh and Balochistan.
