Slow Internet in Pakistan? Here’s What’s Behind the Disruption

Slow Internet in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – On Wednesday, internet users across Pakistan are experiencing slow speeds, leading to disruptions in various services.

Internet speeds were also slow due to disruptions affecting PTCL services nationwide. PTCL is experiencing widespread data outages that are impacting connectivity in several cities. The issue, caused by a PTCL system fault, particularly affects broadband services during peak hours.

Amid the disruption, the PTA is actively monitoring the situation. The issue has escalated, with over half of the country’s internet users relying on PTCL. According to the Netblocks internet monitoring platform, connectivity has dropped 24 percent. Downdetector also reports a significant rise in outage complaints, particularly from Karachi, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Lahore, Faisalabad, and Multan.

Reports suggest that the disruption may be international, as it’s not limited to just the South Asian region.

In the meantime, social media platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram are functioning correctly in Pakistan. Wednesday’s disruption has affected both mobile and landline internet users, impacting freelancers and remote workers as well.

Efforts are currently being made to resolve the issue, and further updates will be provided as they become available. – supernews.pk
