Sindh law minister: Peace and security will not be compromised

Sindh law minister

Zia ul Hassan Lanjar, Sindh Minister for Home, Law, and Parliamentary Affairs, declared on Wednesday that peace and security will be maintained under whatever conditions.

“We anticipate a significant change in this regard, and I am grateful to those who have placed their trust in me,” he said at a media briefing at the Sindh Assembly.

He stated, “My number one objective is to restore calm and maintain law and order throughout the province, from Karachi to Kashmore. Those engaging in street crimes in Karachi will suffer severe consequences, particularly those who resort to violence over minor issues.”

Lanjar stated that qualified and respected police personnel would be chosen, and that with the public’s help, we will restore calm and retain control over the current situation throughout the province, including Karachi.

Prior to this, Zia ul Hassan Lanjar met with personnel from Sindh’s Department of Home Government for an introduction.

The Secretary of Home Affairs, Inspector General of Sindh Police, and other officials were present. He also presided over a conference on law and order, during which the Secretary of Sindh’s Department of Home Affairs, Secretary Law, and Inspector General of Sindh Police delivered thorough reports on the current situation.

“After taking the oath as Sindh’s Home Minister, my first focus has been to restore peace and maintain law and order. Given Karachi’s standing as a big metropolis, we intend to employ proactive policing and strengthen security measures in order to combat escalating street crime.

There will be efforts to combat social crimes that occur in metropolitan settings. Regardless of their level of influence, people engaging in street crimes will face harsh penalties. We would also prioritize other Sindh districts, including Kashmore, Ghotki, and Shikarpur, to restore calm and security.

Cooperation from the inhabitants of these places is critical to reaching this aim. “I and the IG Sindh will visit Larkana and Sukkur twice a week, establishing a camp office there to address local concerns.”

Depending on the situation, paramilitary personnel may be sent to help police in specific locations. We are dedicated to taking the necessary steps to reduce crime and bring about meaningful change.” In response to questions, prosecution revisions are judged required, and meetings with legal experts will be conducted to resolve this issue, he stated.
