Sarim Karachi: Sarim’s tragic death has led DIG West to form a four-member committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the case. The seven-year-old’s post-mortem report confirmed he was sexually abused and murdered, leading to this action.
Eleven days after Sarim went missing on January 7 while returning from a local madrasa, authorities discovered his lifeless body in an underground water tank near his home in North Karachi. Initially, police reported that someone had concealed the tank’s lid with a carton.
On suspicion, police detained a close relative of the victim, and DNA testing is underway to aid the investigation.
In response to the chilling revelations, DIG West Irfan Baloch formed a special committee led by DSP Central Investigation and comprising officers from the Investigations Branch.
The team is investigating the apartment complex union where authorities found Sarim’s body.
Preliminary findings indicate that someone kidnapped, assaulted, and killed Sarim within the same apartment building before discarding his body in the water tank.
The ongoing investigation aims to uncover all individuals involved in this heinous crime and ensure justice for the young boy.
