PTI leaders charged in charges concerning protests and rallies

Several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders have been charged in numerous counts for protesting and holding demonstrations in Lahore and Islamabad.

In the capital, Kohsar police have filed a complaint against PTI officials and members for planning a gathering. The complaint accuses PTI leadership and 1,000 nameless persons of disrupting with government activities, breaking Section 144, and displaying guns.

Among those named in the case are PTI leaders Sher Afzal Marwat, Ali Bukhari, Shafqat Awan, and Shoaib Shaheen. Aamir Mughal, Shaukat Basra, Ayaz Amir, Khalid Khurshid, and Seemabia Tahir have all been charged in connection with the event.

Meanwhile, in Lahore, PTI leaders and members were arrested on Sunday at GPO Chowk on The Mall road, and six charges were lodged against them in the Old Anarkali, Shahdara, South Cantt, and Ichhra police stations on Monday. They face significant allegations such as terrorism, abduction, interference with government business, and harassment.

Fauzia, Hadira, and Hamida Bibi have been named in the case, and the FIR claims that during the demonstration, Hafiz Farhat Abbas incited workers to destroy government property and conduct arson. According to the FIR, PTI workers destroyed a government vehicle, and Abbas and four to five unidentified accomplices opened fire during the rally.

Furthermore, it is alleged that one of the suspects’ rounds damaged an official car, and Farhat Abbas and his friends tore off a police constable’s uniform and attempted to abduct him; he was later found at Istanbul Chowk.

In reaction to the event, police detained 42 people and seized protestors’ sticks.
