Pakistan Customs officials achieved a substantial recovery at the Karachi airport by stopping a traveler arriving from Dubai with a haul of gold jewelry.
According to a Customs spokeswoman, staff stationed at Jinnah International Airport’s arrival lounge detained a traveler on suspicion. Upon interrogation, the passenger denied having any illegal items.
Unsatisfied, Customs agents conducted a thorough examination of the passenger’s bags. Their efforts were rewarded when they discovered a cache of gold jewelry weighing 49 tola. Despite repeated inquiry, the passenger was unable to offer an adequate explanation for the existence of the trinkets. Customs officials then confiscated the gold jewels, which were worth 11.047 million rupees.
The authorities have stated that more measures would be implemented under the Customs Act to resolve the issue.
