Mugger who murdered army officer in Karachi killed in encounter

On Tuesday night, the claimed key suspect in the mugging of army officer Major Saad was murdered during a confrontation with police officials at Karachi’s Baghdadi police station.

The confrontation had happened near Lyari’s Phool Patti Lane.

South Asad Raza, Deputy Inspector General (DIG), verified the deceased’s involvement in the Major Saad case. He was identified as Altaf Bengali and was said to have a criminal record. He’d lately been freed on bond.

The cops also claimed to have seized guns at the scene of the incident. The corpse of the dead suspect was sent to Jinnah Hospital.

The accomplice is arrested.

The encounter occurred hours after the SITE. Police caught the suspect’s accomplice, Usman Mangal.

The accomplice was apprehended in a police operation while wounded.

The apprehended suspect allegedly admitted to the presence of Altaf Bengali during the event.

On March 31, an army officer was shot four times during a heist near the SITE B Police Station. He was transferred to Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital, where he received care for eight days. He died away on April 8.

He is survived by his spouse and two children.

Last week, on April 5, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) politician Taha Ahmed Khan introduced a motion in the Sindh Assembly requesting compensation for victims of street crimes.

The resolution expressed alarm over the increasing number of street crimes in the metropolis, stating that more than 50 people had died in such instances since the beginning of the year.
