The Sindh government announced on Wednesday that a new batch of buses had arrived in Karachi as part of the People’s Bus Service project, which aims to improve public transportation for the populace.
The move is part of attempts to improve the current transportation network, notably in Karachi, the province’s major metropolitan area.
A fresh batch of buses purchased from China will be deployed as part of the endeavor to serve more routes around the city. The measure is anticipated to reduce the load on current transportation infrastructure while also providing commuters with more efficient and dependable transit alternatives.
Speaking to the media, Sindh Minister for Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing public transportation services.
He stressed that the launch of additional lines will be prioritized to give the greatest benefit to the general public.
Memon stated that the imported buses will be deliberately deployed to serve locations with strong demand for public transit. This focused strategy tries to solve long-standing commuter concerns, such as overcrowding and insufficient coverage in particular locations.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif promised last week that 150 buses will be added to Karachi’s transportation network during his first visit.
During his visit, the premier applauded the province government’s efforts to improve public transit services.
Earlier this month, Karachi launched the Pink Bus service, which is solely for women and girls, with free trips for the first two months and thereafter a modest price of Rs50 per passenger.
PPP Women’s Wing Chairperson MPA Faryal Talpur launched the program, praising its role in empowering women and promoting growth and prosperity.
