Karachi had its warmest day of the year on Sunday

Karachi

As temperatures rose, Karachi recorded the hottest day of the year on Sunday, with the mercury reaching a blistering 37 degrees Celsius.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said that Sunday was not only the warmest day in the port city, but also the most humid, with sea breezes impeded. The humidity hit 45%, making the heat more oppressive than the reported temperature.

The city’s maximum temperature was recorded at 37 degrees Celsius, up 2.9 degrees from the previous day’s high of 34.1 degrees Celsius.

The PMD’s early warning system has warned that Balochistan may experience a short heatwave due to the effect of northern winds. On Monday, temperatures in the region are expected to reach 39 degrees Celsius.

PMD in Sindh province predicted hot and dry weather. Despite this, Chief Meteorologist Syed Sarfaraz told the public that there are no signs of a heatwave, with humidity levels ranging from 10 to 20% in the air.

On Sunday, other regions of Sindh saw high temperatures. PMD stated that Chhor had the highest temperature at 41 degrees Celsius, followed by Shaheed Benazirabad, Mithi, and Mohenjo Daro, all of which reached 40 degrees Celsius.
