Jamaat-e-Islami mandate in Karachi stolen, alleges top party leader

Jamaat-e-Islami

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Balochistan Amir Moulana Abdul Haq Hashmi stated on Sunday that the JI was protesting the election results for 2024 because the JI mandate in Karachi had been stolen.

This he stated during a news conference at the Quetta news Club with Zahid Akhtar Baloch, General Secretary, JI, Balochistan; Hafiz Nur Ali, Ameer, JI, Quetta; and Abdul Wali Shakir, Information Secretary, JI, Balochistan.

The JI leader stated that two JI delegates were elected as members of the Balochistan Provincial Assembly for the first time, having won seats in the province’s Gwadar and Jaffarabad regions.

Mr Hashmi stated that a protest against the recent election was taking place across the country, and that JI was also protesting the result of the election-2024 held in Karachi. People in Karachi had rejected a party in previous local body elections, but the party was given seats in Karachi solely to block JI’s path, he claimed.

He expressed solidarity with Balochistan’s protesting political groups and stated that their issues about election results needed to be addressed.
