Imran Khan, former Prime Minister of Pakistan, describes his controversial arrest on May 9, 2023, claiming that authorities wrongfully detained him at the Islamabad High Court. He argues that the authorities intentionally broadcasted his arrest to stir public anger and create unrest.
“When I sought justice at the Islamabad High Court, the authorities attacked me. The Supreme Court later ruled the entire operation illegal,” Khan writes.
Imran Khan also believes that individuals disrupted peaceful protests against his arrest, causing violence that damaged PTI’s reputation.
PTI’s Demand for a Judicial Commission: Rejecting Talks with the Government
In response to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s suggestion for talks, PTI leader Shibli Faraz rejected the idea of forming a house committee, calling it ineffective. Faraz criticized the government’s approach, saying that real talks should have already led to the formation of a committee.
Faraz repeated PTI’s demand for a judicial commission, explaining that it would help restore public trust. “The people trust a judicial commission. The house committee idea isn’t a practical solution,” Faraz said.
Faraz concluded that the PTI is open to talks to resolve political instability and stabilize the country. “We are ready to talk to end the political crisis and stabilize the nation,” he added.
