The bulk of Karachi inhabitants are medium- and low-income, and they rely mainly on government-operated utility stores for inexpensive goods, notably wheat flour, which is once again in limited supply during Ramadan.
The lack of wheat flour in utility shops since the beginning of the holy month due to government mismanagement has put the city’s people in a difficult situation, forcing them to turn to local markets where flour costs are significantly higher.
This condition has increased the cost of a staple food item that is an essential element of many households’ daily diets.
Karachi residents are more vocal about their worries, pushing the government to intervene and guarantee that wheat flour is available at utility stores throughout the holy month.
