KARACHI Airport News – An Airport Security Force (ASF) personnel clipped the hair of a female hajj pilgrim at Karachi International Airport due to suspicion.
The insulting episode, which occurred on June 1, has sparked widespread condemnation from public and rights groups.
The victim, Seema Bano, arrived at Jinnah International Airport to catch her hajj trip when she was stopped by a lady ASF official.
The official escorted her to a room to see where she had chopped her hair on suspicion of carrying anything illicit. When the traveler went through the scanner again, the inspectors discovered nothing.
Meanwhile, the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan slammed the event, claiming that an ASF official violated privacy regulations.
It is unclear why the ASF officer clipped the hajj pilgrims’ hair. It advocated discouraging such behavior.
