A man in Karachi was sentenced to 80 lashes by a district and sessions court for denying paternity of his kid and falsely accusing his ex-wife of infidelity.
Shehnaz Bohyo, Additional District and Sessions Judge (Malir), found Fareed Qadir guilty of disowning his lawful kid and bringing false claims against his ex-wife under Section 7(1) of the Offence of Qazf (Enforcement Of Hadd) Ordinance, 1979.
According to the regulation, anyone found guilty of qazf will be penalized with eighty stripes.
The court said that the convict’s evidence would be inadmissible in any court of law following the confirmation of the conviction by the Federal Shariat Court.
The ruling stated that the offender might stay on bail if he promised to present for the penalty of whipping at the stipulated time and location after the court of appeals confirmed the conviction and submitted a Rs100,000 bail bond.
However, the penalty was to be postponed until the convict’s appeal against the sentence was decided.
In her plea, the convict’s former wife claimed that he had not supplied maintenance or returned her to his house following the birth of their daughter in December 2015.
