RAWALPINDI: In a successful Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) in North Waziristan, Pakistan’s security forces killed 12 terrorists, known as khwarij, while a soldier laid down his life in the operation, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported on Thursday. The operation targeted militants in the region as part of ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and ensure the safety of civilians. Despite the heavy loss, the military hailed the operation as a major success. The military has not yet disclosed the identity of the fallen soldier, and they have extended condolences to his family.
According to an ISPR statement, the operation took place in the general area of Hassan Khel, North Waziristan, based on intelligence reports about the presence of terrorists. Security forces swiftly engaged the location where the militants were hiding, resulting in the death of 12 terrorists.
During the intense firefight, Lance Naik Muhammad Ibrahim, aged 34 and a resident of District Hangu, made the ultimate sacrifice, embracing martyrdom while displaying immense bravery.
The ISPR confirmed that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed 12 terrorists, who were involved in several attacks on security forces and civilian-targeted killings.
The Pakistani military is currently conducting a sanitization operation in the region to eliminate any remaining militants. The ISPR emphasized that such sacrifices only reinforce Pakistan’s resolve to eradicate terrorism.
Earlier, on February 1, security forces neutralized 23 terrorists during clearance operations in Kalat and Harnai, Balochistan. In the Harnai operation, security forces killed 11 militants and uncovered multiple terrorist hideouts. During these operations, 18 soldiers also made the ultimate sacrifice.
