110cc motorcycles have been a ‘top option’ for snatchers in Karachi

Over the previous six months, criminals in Karachi have targeted 110cc bikes worth Rs194.1 million for theft.

According to the facts, 108 of these motorcycles were taken or stolen in November, 82 in December, 105 in January, 148 in February, 110 in March, and 64 in April.

The most recent occurrence was reported two days ago from Landhi in Zamanabad. Despite the bike owner’s efforts to flee the robbery, the thieves were able to intercept him farther ahead.

The same day, another incident was reported from under a pedestrian overpass on Stadium Road, which is under the authority of the New Town police station. The victim, Muhammad Naveed, was shot and injured while resisting the theft.

Citizens and victims have urged that the police and administration respond to the situation as soon as possible.

The final month of 2023 was particularly difficult, as muggers attacked anywhere at any time, exposing the extent to which civilians are susceptible to street criminals. Alarmingly, 52 people were killed in violent robberies and other occurrences within the same time period.

The CPLC statistics revealed a significant increase in street crimes, with 206 automobiles, 4,777 motorbikes, and 2,095 mobile phones stolen and grabbed within a month.

According to the report, individuals were denied 207 automobiles worth millions of rupees in September 2023. Of them, 15 were taken at gunpoint, and 192 were stolen.

Similarly, residents lost a total of 5,399 bikes in September. 730 bikes were abducted at gunpoint, while 4,669 were stolen.
