An explosion in a Karachi hospital injures seven people

On Sunday, an explosion occurred inside a Karachi hospital’s emergency department, injuring at least seven people, including patients and a two-year-old kid.

According to rescue personnel, the event took place inside the emergency department of Sindh Government Hospital in the city’s Liaquatabad neighborhood.

“Soon after the blast, fire engulfed the entire ward [within no time],” the officials stated.

The hospital administration acknowledged that the explosion wounded at least seven individuals, including a two-year-old toddler.

After being notified, emergency crews hurried to the hospital to extinguish the fire.

Dr Attique, the hospital’s Medical Superintendent (MS), stated that an emergency had been declared in the hospital, and that the medical personnel and patients were being relocated.

Meanwhile, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori requested a thorough report from the MS into the incident. In addition, he prayed for the injured to heal quickly.

Caretaker Sindh Health Minister Dr Khalid Niaz also requested a report on the event and asked the authorities to offer the best medical care to the victims.

According to the bomb disposal team, a refrigerator compressor burst owing to a short circuit in the emergency department’s storeroom.

According to the report, the explosion harmed “few people” and caused “minor damage”.
