Temperature in Karachi is plunging to 11°C, bringing a refreshing chill to the city. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts temperatures to remain between 10-12°C, accompanied by 36% humidity and northeasterly winds at 8 km/h.
The PMD had earlier issued a “mild cold wave” warning for Sindh, predicting nighttime temperatures in Karachi to dip as low as 7-9°C.
While Karachi enjoys its brief winter spell, other regions are experiencing even colder temperatures. In Balochistan, Quetta recorded -4°C, and Kalat dropped to -6°C, with Nokkundi, Gwadar, and Sibi reporting 0°C, 7°C, and 9°C, respectively.
The cold wave has brought freezing conditions to Ziarat, where residents face challenges like frozen water pipes and gas shortages. Meanwhile, northern areas of Pakistan have turned into snowy landscapes, with Abbottabad, Kaghan Valley, and Murree receiving their first snowfall of the season.
The PMD predicts dry and cold weather to persist in most parts of the country, with isolated rain and snowfall expected in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir. Tourists are advised to monitor weather updates and exercise caution while traveling to snow-covered regions.
This seasonal chill has transformed Karachi and other parts of Pakistan, offering a mix of beauty and challenges across the country.
