- Trump may acknowledge defeat if the election is held fairly.
- The FBI has reported false bomb threats targeting polling locations across multiple states, and the composition of Congress is also in question.
US Election Status: Washington – The intense presidential race between Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris is reaching an uncertain finish, as millions of Americans cast votes for two distinct visions for the country’s future.
Votes counted early on Tuesday reflect the nation’s divide. Shortly after midnight, the six residents of Dixville Notch, New Hampshire, split their votes between Harris and Trump.
Trump cast his ballot in Florida, arriving with his wife, Melania, at a Palm Beach polling site. After voting, he expressed confidence in his victory, yet noted frustration that the final results might be delayed. He stated he would accept the outcome “if it’s a fair election,” reiterating his previous concerns over computerized voting systems.
Early Election Day Comments
“If the election is fair and I lose, I’ll acknowledge it,” Trump stated to reporters in Florida, repeating a stance he held throughout the campaign. His campaign team has hinted he may announce victory on election night, even with millions of ballots still pending, a strategy similar to his 2020 approach.
Polls indicate that Harris holds a lead with female voters by 12 points, while Trump has a seven-point lead among men. Control of both houses of Congress is also at stake, with Republicans needing fewer seats to gain control of the Senate.
Safety Concerns
Amid concerns of unrest, 19 states have activated the National Guard to help maintain peace, particularly in key battleground areas like Nevada, where tensions have previously escalated.
A Georgia polling worker faces detention after allegedly threatening election staff. Additionally, the FBI has warned of false claims regarding election threats and fraud. Authorities have reported fake bomb threats, some of which appear to originate from foreign sources. However, they have confirmed that none of these threats are credible.
