KHYBER/QUETTA: Armed attacks in Balochistan’s Pishin and Khyber districts and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa killed four law enforcement officers and injured a traffic police policeman on Wednesday, authorities said.
Pishin was shaken by two gun assaults within eight hours, which claimed the lives of two Levies personnel and injured a traffic police constable.
According to authorities, the assailants utilized automatic firearms on Tuesday and Wednesday night to strike a security checkpoint in the Milizai region of Pishin district. The Levies soldiers, Yasin Alyas and Abdul Qadeer embraced martyrdom during the shooting, according to authorities, who added that security forces hurried to the scene and transported the bodies to the district hospital.
The second incident in Pishin occurred within eight hours of the first when officials were conducting preliminary investigations and preparing for the martyrs’ funerals. Armed men on motorbikes targeted a traffic police officer on duty in the bustling Pishin Bazaar’s Jan Adha neighborhood.
Strikes hit Levies and KP police checkpoints at midnight.
The constable, wounded by multiple bullets, went to Pishin District Hospital immediately.
Officials initiated a search operation in Pishin and nearby regions to locate those involved in the armed attacks.
Pishin Deputy Commissioner Jumma Dad Khan Mandokhail and other top officials attended the Levies personnel’s burial, held with full official honors at a nearby graveyard.
Three were slain in Khyber.
Another nighttime attack in Landi Kotal killed two policemen and a civilian, injuring a police official and others.
Unknown terrorists attacked the Charwazgai checkpoint on Torkham Highway near the Landi Kotal army base.
According to police officials, the assailants were able to flee when the police at the checkpoint fired in retaliation.
Extra police arrived quickly, launched a search, and increased patrols. The constable and the injured civilian, both with multiple bullet wounds, went to Peshawar for treatment.
