The Japan Apparel and Fashion Industry Council organized an inaugural exhibition of completely Japanese-made clothes in Paris to highlight top-tier Japanese apparel on a worldwide scale.
In keeping with Men’s Fashion Week in Paris, the exhibition featured apparel meticulously crafted in council-approved domestic factories—from fabric production and dyeing to stitching.
Despite the commercial hurdles that locally made products confront owing to cheaper imports, the council’s goal is to extend sales opportunities by emphasizing the unique quality of these garments. Each piece on display has the coveted “J Quality” badge, indicating that it was made in Japan using an integrated production system.
Over 60 men’s apparel pieces were on exhibit, including beautifully cut coats with hand-stitched details and delicately made knitwear. The organizers reported a rise in requests, including one Italian department store’s interest in opening a temporary boutique for these clothes.
