Earlier in 2021, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) stated that a security high alert was issued across the nation due to a potential terror threat, and intelligence-based operations (IBOs) were being carried out in Punjab.
According to a statement from the CTD Punjab, a security high alert has been issued due to a suspected terrorist threat. The spokesman noted that IBOs are being conducted throughout Punjab, with 23 operations carried out in various districts during the previous seven days.
During the IBOs, 23 individuals were interviewed, and two well-known terrorists, Abdul Samad and Ikramullah Khan, were detained. Abdul Samad, an alleged terrorist, was captured in Sialkot, while Ikramullah Khan was nabbed in Nankana Sahib.
In 2023, Pakistan had 1,524 violence-related deaths and 1463 injuries from 789 terror incidents and counter-terror operations.
