KARACHI: The Supreme Court has given instructions to remove barriers and encroachments from buildings and highways around Karachi.
According to reports, the Supreme Court held a hearing on a matter involving the elimination of encroachments in Karachi. The court ordered that all official and private structures and roadways, including the Rangers Headquarters, Governor House, and CM House, be cleared of obstructions and encroachments.
The court directed all relevant security services to follow the legal order and the Additional Attorney General to inform federal institutions. The court stressed road clearing, recovering costs associated with encroachments from violators, and requiring a report on the complete removal of encroachments within three days.
During the hearing, Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa questioned the placement of obstacles outside the Rangers’ headquarters and the Chief Minister’s residence. The government’s attorney stated that the obstacles were there for security reasons. In answer, the Chief Justice said, “Then move to a safer place from here and clear this area.” Do you want assaults on the public? “The rest of you should stay safe; double standards will not be tolerated.”
