Mercury to drop to 10 °C in Karachi amid strong winds

Karachi

Karachi faced a noticeable drop in temperature on Wednesday as cold, strong winds swept across the city. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), temperatures are expected to fall further, potentially reaching 10 °C. The lowest reading was 8.9 °C at Jinnah Terminal. Other areas recorded: Bin Qasim 12.1 °C, Old Airport 12.5 °C, Shahrae Faisal and Maripur 13.5 °C.

Winds blowing from Balochistan’s northeast reached speeds up to 25 km/h. The PMD’s Early Warning Centre cautioned that these gusty winds could shave off another 1–2 °C over the coming days. Meanwhile, in rural Sindh, Mohenjo‑Daro registered an especially low 3.8 °C — highlighting how the chill is affecting broader regions. Officials have urged residents to take precautions as the cold spell continues.
