La Niña is raising concerns worldwide as climate experts warn of one of the coldest winter seasons in recent years. The weather pattern, caused by a drop in sea surface temperatures across the equatorial Pacific, has historically been linked to harsher winters.
According to meteorologists, La Niña alters air circulation and jet stream behavior, leading to extended frost spells, heavier snowfall, and prolonged cold waves. This year, several global climate monitoring agencies, including the United States Climate Prediction Center, have already issued La Niña alerts as ocean temperatures show clear signs of cooling.
If La Niña develops fully, experts predict earlier-than-usual frosts, frequent cold snaps, and increased chances of snowfall in higher regions. Even a weaker La Niña event, they warn, can still result in a significant temperature drop and severe winter impacts.
