ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast heavy rain, strong winds, thunderstorms and isolated hailstorms across Islamabad, Rawalpindi and several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the influence of a westerly weather system.
Heavy Rain Expected in Islamabad and Rawalpindi
According to the latest forecast, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Taxila, Murree and the Galiyat region are expected to receive rain. Showers are also likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Attock over the coming hours.
The PMD said the current weather system is expected to remain active through October 7, bringing rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds to upper parts of the country.
Rain and Hailstorms Forecast in KP
Several areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are also expected to experience unsettled weather. Rain is forecast in Chitral, Dir, Bajaur, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda and Swat.
The Met Office has also predicted thunderstorms and strong winds in Kohistan, while Kurram, Kohat, Bannu and Lakki Marwat may receive rain. Dera Ismail Khan is likely to see rain accompanied by strong winds and hailstorms.
Nowshera Hit by Heavy Rain and Hail
Nowshera has already received heavy rain and hail in several locations. The weather has reportedly damaged crops and orchards, while intense rainfall caused streams and nullahs to swell and led to water accumulation on roads.
PMD Issues Damage Warning
The weather department has warned that strong winds, hailstorms and lightning could damage vulnerable structures, including mud houses, roofs, electricity poles, billboards, vehicles and solar panels.
Daytime temperatures are also expected to fall by around 2 to 4 degrees Celsius during the forecast period. Farmers have been advised to plan agricultural activities according to the expected weather conditions.

Weather Outlook for Other Regions
Rain and thunderstorms with isolated hailstorms are also expected in parts of Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan on October 6 and 7.
Meanwhile, mainly hot and dry conditions are expected to continue across Sindh. Balochistan is also likely to remain mostly hot and dry, although isolated rain and thunderstorms are possible in Zhob, Barkhan and Musakhel.
