South Africa vs Ireland Women ODI Series – Records Broken

South Africa’s women’s cricket team beat Ireland by 74 runs to take a 2–0 lead in the three-match ODI series in Gqeberha. The match was full of runs and several scoring records were broken.

The Proteas posted their highest ever total in women’s One-Day international cricket, scoring 375 for 6. This is also one of the top 15 highest scores in women’s ODI history. Ireland fought back well, scoring more than 300 runs — a rare achievement for them — but still couldn’t reach the target.

South Africa’s captain Laura Wolvaardt scored 124 runs, while Sune Luus added 114 and Dane van Niekerk made 88. Their batting helped set up the big total.

In response, Ireland’s Orla Prendergast scored 97, narrowly missing a century, and Amy Hunter scored 64, but they finished on 301 runs and lost by 74 runs.

South African bowler Leah Jones took three wickets, helping to stop Ireland’s chase.

Ireland captain Gaby Lewis said she was proud of her team’s performance and feels they are improving as a group.

South Africa already won the first match by seven wickets, and the final game of the series will be played in Johannesburg.
