The provincial government of Sindh has launched the two-day All-Sindh Malakhra Championship in Karachi, aiming to revive one of its oldest rural sports and reconnect youth with regional heritage.
Held in Sachal Goth, the event is organised by the Sindh Department of Sports and features over 100 wrestlers representing all 30 districts of the province. District Sports Officer Ismail Shah confirmed that three competitors from each district are participating.
Veteran wrestlers such as Qurban Hothipoto, Mubarak Mallah, Jan Mohammad and Munthar Bugti displayed their skills in the ring, joined by emerging talent from regions like Badin and Karachi. By staging this championship, the Sindh government is sending a message that support for rural and traditional sports is part of its agenda.
