Pakistan seeks govt nod for potential India T20 World Cup finals clash

Pakistan seeks govt nod for India T20 finals clash

Pakistan’s cricket captain Salman Agha has confirmed that the national team will consult the government if it progresses to the knockout stage of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and is scheduled to face arch-rivals India in a semi-final or final.

The remark came amid ongoing political tensions affecting the tournament after the Pakistan government banned the team from playing India in the group stage, a decision tied to wider diplomatic disputes and Bangladesh’s exit from the competition. Despite the boycott of the scheduled February 15 Group A match against India, Pakistan’s campaign continues in Sri Lanka and could still lead to a high-profile knockout clash.
