British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua says he has rediscovered his passion for boxing and intends to continue his professional career after initially considering retirement. Joshua had contemplated stepping away from the sport following a knockout loss to fellow British fighter Daniel Dubois in London on September 21, 2024.
The 36-year-old returned to the ring on December 19, 2025, in Miami, Florida, where he scored a sixth-round knockout victory over Jake Paul. Joshua admitted that the win reignited his love for boxing and has motivated him to pursue future high-profile bouts, including a planned showdown with former rival Tyson Fury.
Joshua acknowledged that a lengthy break from the sport was partly due to personal and family considerations, noting that balancing training with family life had been challenging. He also emphasized his commitment to being a devoted father to his 10-year-old son JJ, born from a previous relationship.
With substantial earnings from his fight with Paul reported to be among the most lucrative of his career — Joshua appears set to continue his boxing journey as he prepares for future challenges.
