Petrol price in Pakistan today

The federal government has reduced the price of petrol by Rs3.19 per litre while increasing the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs2.25 per litre for October 28, 2026. The latest adjustment brings some relief to petrol users, while diesel consumers will face higher fuel costs.

New Petrol and Diesel Prices in Pakistan

Under the revised rates announced by the Petroleum Division, petrol will cost Rs376.06 per litre, while high-speed diesel will be sold at Rs398.07 per litre.

Petroleum product Price change per litre New price
Petrol Decrease of Rs3.19 Rs376.06
High-speed diesel Increase of Rs2.25 Rs398.07

The new prices take effect on October 28, following another revision a day earlier, when the government raised petrol by Rs1.54 and diesel by Rs2.16 per litre.

Why Are Fuel Prices Changing Daily?

Pakistan introduced a daily petroleum pricing mechanism in July 2026, replacing the previous weekly review system. The policy allows changes in international oil prices and related costs to be reflected more quickly in domestic fuel rates.

International oil prices have remained volatile amid geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and concerns about disruptions to important shipping routes. Since Pakistan imports much of its petroleum requirements, fluctuations in global oil markets can affect local fuel prices.

Impact on Consumers and Transport Costs

The petrol price reduction may offer some relief to motorists, motorcyclists and other petrol users. However, the increase in diesel prices could raise operating expenses for transporters, freight operators and businesses that depend on diesel-powered vehicles.

Changes in diesel costs can also influence the prices of goods and public transport, depending on how transport operators respond to the latest adjustment.

Consumers will continue to monitor daily announcements as the government adjusts petroleum prices in response to changing market conditions.
