Diesel price in Pakistan

The federal government has increased the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs2.29 per litre while keeping petrol prices unchanged for the next three days, according to the latest petroleum price notification issued on October 30, 2026.

Following the adjustment, diesel will cost Rs402.96 per litre, crossing the Rs400 mark, while petrol will remain available at Rs377.91 per litre. The revised rates will take effect from October 31 and remain applicable until November 2, 2026.

New Petrol and Diesel Prices in Pakistan

The latest petroleum price adjustment brings another increase in diesel rates, while petrol consumers will continue paying the existing price.

Petroleum product Price change New price per litre
Petrol No change Rs377.91
High-Speed Diesel +Rs2.29 Rs402.96

The previous diesel rate was Rs400.67 per litre. With the latest increase, its price has risen above Rs400 for the second consecutive adjustment.

Why Has the Government Increased Diesel Prices?

The latest adjustment follows changes in international petroleum market conditions, including fluctuations in global benchmark prices, premiums and other import-related costs.

Pakistan relies significantly on imported petroleum products, making domestic fuel prices sensitive to developments in international oil markets. The government has been using a daily petroleum pricing mechanism to reflect market changes more frequently.

Higher Diesel Prices May Affect Transport Costs

The diesel price increase could add to operating expenses for transport companies, freight operators and businesses that depend on heavy vehicles.

High-speed diesel is widely used in trucks, buses, agricultural machinery and generators. Any increase in its price can put additional pressure on transportation and distribution costs, potentially affecting consumers through higher prices of goods and services.

Petrol users, however, will receive temporary relief as the government has maintained the existing petrol rate until November 2.

Next Petroleum Price Review Expected on November 2

The latest notification keeps petrol and diesel prices effective for three days, from October 31 through November 2. Consumers and transport operators will be watching the next government announcement for possible changes in petroleum rates.

Future adjustments will depend on international oil prices and other factors affecting Pakistan’s petroleum import costs.
