Three Motorway Police officers were killed early Monday when a Karachi-to-Multan passenger bus rear-ended their patrol vehicle near Uch Sharif on the M5 Motorway.

According to a Motorway Police spokesperson, the collision occurred at “location 662” on the motorway. The officers—Sub-Inspector Muhammad Mushtaq, Assistant Sub-Inspector Nasir Abbas, and Constable Osama—were inside the patrolling vehicle and died on the spot.

Rescue teams, led by the sector commander and DSP, rushed to the scene, cleared debris, and carried out relief operations.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed “deep sorrow and grief” over the deaths, offering her condolences to the families. Federal Communications Minister Abdul Aleem Khan also paid tribute to the fallen officers, calling for a “complete and transparent investigation” into the crash.

The Motorway Police described the incident as heartbreaking, noting that the officers were on routine duty and committed to ensuring commuter safety. Authorities have vowed to review safety protocols to prevent such tragedies in the future.
