A traffic police officer was seriously injured after being attacked by street vendors in Karachi’s Saddar area, police and eyewitnesses said on Wednesday. The incident occurred near Club Road, where a group of hawkers confronted the officer during an attempt to clear illegal stalls that were obstructing traffic and pedestrian movement.

According to authorities, the officer was managing traffic when tensions escalated between the police and the vendors, who resisted orders to vacate the roadway. The situation quickly turned violent, with several shopkeepers and their assistants assaulting the officer, leaving him injured and requiring medical attention. The injured officer was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, where he was reported to be in stable condition.

A case has been registered, and investigations are underway to identify the suspects and apprehend those responsible. Senior traffic officials also warned that enforcement actions to remove unlawful encroachments and maintain order will continue citywide.
