The Sindh government has approved a Rs9.28 billion development package aimed at upgrading infrastructure and stimulating economic activity in Karachi’s industrial areas. The move, announced by provincial authorities, is intended to enhance business conditions, create employment opportunities, and strengthen the city’s role as a competitive industrial hub.
Under the plan, funding will be directed toward urgent repair and maintenance of roads, logistics networks, and other essential facilities in major industrial zones, including SITE, Landhi, Korangi, and North Karachi, among others. Officials said work on the projects will begin promptly and is expected to be completed within six months, with allocations determined by the needs of each area.
Industrial stakeholders have welcomed the package, describing it as a historic and timely initiative that addresses long-standing infrastructure bottlenecks that have hindered productivity and investment. They highlighted expectations that improved infrastructure will lower business costs, boost production, expand export potential, and restore investor confidence in Karachi’s industrial sector.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and senior officials reviewed the development plan with representatives of key trade associations at a high-level meeting, reaffirming the government’s commitment to supporting industrial growth and economic revival in the city.
